Christmas with the Hobbs and Lemmons: We met up with my parents at Dion's to celebrate Christmas with them before heading off to Dallas. My parents were also hosting her twin sister Cathy and some of her family (Uncle Howard, Evan, Gordon, Taylor, and Amelia). We had so much fun seeing all the family. I especially LOVED playing Canasta with Gordon and Taylor. We came up with a new "shaming" rule that brought the fun to a whole new level! Ha ha! I wished they lived closer - we would totally hang out! My mom made a delicious meal another night that was so good I tried to capture it in writing in my journal. It was pulled lime chicken with all the fixings for a Mexican fresh feast!
This was the first time we got to spend Christmas with Sethrina's family as host - and it was a total blast! They are amazing planners and we packed in so much fun! My favorite memories included ...
Family Bake-Off: The most talented bakers in our family (Papa Dunlap, Mama Dunlap, and Sebastian - this goes without saying of course) faced off head to head in a baking competition! Sethrina prepared a secret recipe withi minimal instructions. The bakers ended up making delicious fruit tartlets that the rest of us got to taste and judge. Papa Dunlap ended up winning, but Seb's was pretty dang good!
Polar Dip: On Christmas Eve Day, we did our first ever family Polar Dip - it was SO fun and absolutely invigorating and hilarious. We prepped ourselves by wearing the warmest jackets we could find and cranking up the heat in our car. I was nervous that I would chicken out, so as soon as we arrived I busted out of the car and jumped straight it! I was so impressed that Beau and Hannah joined in on the crazy fun as well!
Ice Sculptures: We took some shuttle buses to a fancy hotel to see an ice sculpture display. We got to put on these extra large coats and walk around in the freezing cold. The statues were pretty amazing!
Skillet Cookie: One night, Josh and Sethrina made this delicious skillet cookie. It was hilarious because they set it down in the middle of the living rookm floor and gave everyone spoons (only the adults were awake at this point). We all knelt down around the delicious treat and made total pigs of ourselves. It was awesome!
Canasta: We had fun playing Canasta late at night with Josh and Sethrina. We, of course, instituted the new "shaming" rule, so it was super fun.
Christmas Morning: There were, as usual, presents galore! The presents filled up a big chunk of the living room! Beau was swimming in the gifts! I was just so in love with my little Christmas baby Sofia and kept thinking what a blessing she is! My best Christmas gift!
Snowstorm: On our way home, we forgot to check the weather and we got stuck in Amarillo due to a big snowstorm that rolled through. We made the most of it and got pizza at our hotel and went swimming. The drive home from Amarillo was very dangerous and took FOREVER! Seb didn't want to stop for anything, and at one point we had boys peeing into bottles! Ha ha! We made it home safely due to Seb's excellent driving. Thanks sweets!
