The Dunlap Daily Dish: Sofia (the biggest puppy fan)

This spring, Sofia finished off her kindergarten year with Ms. Sheri and Ms. Sierra. Kindergarten was a wonderful experience for her. She had a class full of nice kiddos that who, for the most part, got along very well. She and Lila became best of friends, which made school extra fun! They had lots of adventures the end of the year performing in skits, singing for their parents, and going on field trips. Sofia is a such a great kid. She was often a leader and teacher in her class, finishing her work quickly and helping others when she was done. She is a great writer and reader, and is currently reading Lois Sachar's Wayside Stories to herself. She always received the highest praises from her teachers, and was quickly recommended for the gifted program (which we'll probably move forward with testing in the next year or so).

At home, Sofia is a delight. She is fun and positive, her humor is way beyond her years, she loves jamming out to the Descendants soundtrack or Taylor Swift, she is the biggest doggy lover, and she adores her big sister, Hannah. Sofia loves playing games on her iPad and is often found with her feet sticking out from under the ottoman, where she enjoys hanging out. One of my favorite things is getting a text from Sofia when I am in class. She sends the funniest GIFs, sometimes making me laugh out loud. Sofia prefers stuffed animals to any type of doll and has a collection of bunnies and puppies in her bed. She wants to be a vet when she grows up and buy our house so she can live in it! She and Hannah started cheerleading this summer and she has learned to use her voice and do cartwheels. In fact - she is so loud that her coach says the level of decibels she's cheering at would make someone deaf in a matter of minutes! Sofia took swim lessons this summer and spent lots of time in Grandma and Grandpa's hot tub and has finally overcome her fear of water and LOVES to swim!

This fall, Sofia started first grade and is in Ms. Hermanson's class (who both Beau and Hannah also had). She is still adjusting to the new group of kids in her class and really misses Lila who moved to Los Lunas. She recently shared that she wishes recess were shorter and I think it's because she's not sure about who to play with. I have no doubt that she'll be making friends soon and back to her happy self in no time. Sofia LOVES church all of a sudden, and I'm pretty sure it's because her new teacher "Mr. Friesel" brings bucketloads of candy to class. No joke - she wins 4-5 full size candy bars each week! I love reading with Sofia at night and talking with her. We're blessed to have this girl in our family!
